William W. Kolthoff

The company's President, William W. Kolthoff is a third generation sheet metal contractor who has virtually lived in the construction industry. Through apprenticeship under family members and experienced master mechanics, college education focused on construction skills and management, trade work, business ownership, and extensive industry organizations involvement. Mr. Kolthoff has unique hands-on experience and educational training surpassed in design, fabrication, and installation in the fields of weather resistive sheet metal, decorative sheet metal, HVAC, metal roofing, metal siding, metal wall panels, kitchen equipment, skylights, and building expansion joint covers.

As a member of the Sheet Metal and Air Conditioning National Association's (SMACNA), Architectural Sheet Metal Committee, Roof Mounted Mechanical Equipment Committee, and Technical Standards Steering Committee, as well as a Board Member and President of the Greater Oakland Chapter, Mr. Kolthoff has traveled extensively throughout the United States on construction industry matters and technical issues. Mr. Kolthoff has passed on his knowledge to contractors, architects, owners, unions, manufacturers, trade organizations, and governmental entities, while at the same time receiving knowledge from leaders in the industry.

In 1984, while already providing consulting services for the building industry, at the request of the Sheet Metal and Air Conditioning National Association (SMACNA), Mr. Kolthoff began providing construction and manufacturing defect consulting and expert witness services in addition to continuing Architectural Sheet Metal Corporation's manufacturing and contracting business.

Mr. Kolthoff has been a technical advisor for sheet metal worker apprentice and journeyman training by the National Training Fund (NTF) joint organization of the Sheet Metal and Air Conditioning Contractors National Association (SMACNA) and the Sheet Metal Workers International Association (SMWIA), on both national and local training.

Mr. Kolthoff, as a representative of the Sheet Metal and Air Conditioning Contractors Association (SMACNA), has testified before the Contractors State License Board, State of California, throughout the hearings involving the determination of licensing requirements of contractors installing metal roofing.

​

Mr. Kolthoff was appointed chairman of the Sheet Metal and Air Conditioning National Association's (SMACNA) technical standards special committee to investigate and address national public utility company's intrusion into the private sector regarding Heat Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) work.

​

Additionally, Mr. Kolthoff was appointed as an Industry Expert for the Contractors State License Board in the Industry Expert Program of the Department of Consumer Affairs, State of California. This program resolves disputes between owners and contractors through the Contractors State License Board.

​

Mr. Kolthoff has been, when asked on three separate occasions by the Contractors State License Board of the Department of Consumer Affairs, State of California, to be a technical advisor, and writer in the updating of license testing for a State California C-43 Sheet Metal Contractor License.
